CPL 2021: Match 9, Trinbago Knight Riders vs Saint Lucia Kings – Preview, Predicted XIs, Match Prediction, Live Streaming, Weather Forecast, and Pitch Report

The reigning champions Trinbago Knight Riders have not had a successful start to their CPL campaign this season.  They have won only one of the three CPL games played so far.  A close encounter in their previous innings against the Kings kept them five runs away from the target.  The Knight Riders, who chased down 158 runs, came very close but could not cross the boundary.

A close defeat will hurt them, and they want to make sure they end the ongoing games.  Trinbago needs to get its CPL campaign back on track.  Over the years, especially since 2016, in most cases, they have benefited from St. Lucia.

Meanwhile, St. Lucia Kings will be happy to recover quickly from the heavy damage.  The CPL’s victory over the defending champions not only gave them their first point but will also come as a huge confidence boost.  He successfully defended his total of 157 runs as the Knight Riders made noise in the chase.

However, the Kings are still placed at the bottom of the CPL list and will look to move up.  From here they want to continue their winning streak and complete the double goal against Trinbago.

.Weather report

The sky over Warner Park will be clear and the sun will come out.  The game is disrupted due to lack of rain, the condition is ideal for full competition.  Temperatures will remain hot and humid between 27 and 30 degrees Celsius.

Pitch report

Wickets in the CPL were usually good for batting, but they can be slow as the game progresses.  Out of the eight matches played so far, the team has won five times by batting first.  As it turns out, chasing was not an easy task.  In such a situation, winning the toss and batting first would be an ideal option.

Predicted Playing XIs

Trinbago Knight Riders

Slow starts from Lendl Simmons and makes it difficult for Tion Webster Knight Riders to convert their targets later.  Both openers need to pick up their pace.  Colin Munro and captain Kieron Pollard are looking good in the middle and need to maintain their form.  Tim Seifert was exceptional at-bat last time, unbeaten on 40 off 16 balls, which brought his team closer to playing in the CPL.

Jaden Sills and Akil Hossain looked good in the last match.  Ravi Rampal was dismissed for three wickets.  Flying was expensive but it got off to a great start.  Trincomalee will also have their skilled spinner, Sunil Narine, in charge of the CPL.

Predicted XI: Kieron Pollard (c), Lendl Simmons, Sunil Narine, Colin Munro, Tim Seifert, Tion Webster, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Isuru Udana, Akeal Hosein, Ravi Rampaul, Jayden Seales.

Saint Lucia Kings

The opening pair of Rahkeem Cornwall and Andre Fletcher looked great last time out.  However, he needs to transform his starts and give the team a solid foundation to continue his innings.  The form of captain Faf du Plessis is also worrying, as he needs to move forward with the bat.  Roston Chase, Mark Dial, and Tim David need to show consistency in the midfield.

Among the bowlers, Giorgio Royal and Wahab Riaz were the best on the new ball while Roston Chase hit a four.  However, they could not take more wickets and the bowling unit had to be put together.

Predicted XI: Faf du Plessis (c), Rahkeem Cornwall, Andre Fletcher (wk), Roston Chase, Mark Deyal, Tim David, Keemo Paul, Wahab Riaz, Alzarri Joseph, Usman Qadir, Jeavor Royal.

Match Prediction

St Lucia Kings won the previous match of the CPL, although their batting is still poor.  There is a lot of weakness in the midfield.  Despite the defeat, Trinbago Knight Riders are a strong team in terms of their batting and bowling units.  The reigning champions will come back victorious and advance in defense of their crown.
