IND vs IRE: Hooda, Hardik lead India to win in rain-hit 1st T20I

India won the opening T20 International against Pakistan in Mumbai, a day after Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed had called the Indian side “dirtier, slower and more predictable”. Hardik Pandya’s six-wicket haul was significant as India overhauled the target of 154 with 10 balls to spare but it came in helping India win by seven wickets.

Resuming their campaign on Friday morning after a tough first Test, India continued with the winning momentum to seal the T20 series in a rain-interrupted one-sided match.

The weather gods then did not smile on India, but Hardik Pandya’s memorable performance ensured that India won the toss and chose to bat first. It was a brilliant batting effort from Virat Kohli’s side which saw them score 156 runs with 10 balls to spare.
