IPL 2021 – Mumbai, KKR chase batting form in mid-table clash

Both Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders are desperate to end the 2020-21 IPL on a positive note after starting the tournament off with a bang.

Kolkata on Friday rolled back the years with a 73-run thumping of Gujarat Lions at the 3Ws Stadium in Ahmedabad.

“We had come out with the intention of playing on values,” said skipper Sunil Narine after the match.

“In these times, we have to focus on values. You have to make the best of situations as per the situation. It’s amazing to start the IPL by getting one over the line,” he added.

Both Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders are desperate to end the 2020-21 IPL on a positive note after starting the tournament off with a bang.

However, Mumbai lost by 13 runs against Chennai Super Kings in their opener while KKR came up with a massive 169-run win over Kolkata at the Wankhede Stadium last Saturday.

With Mumbai having won four of their six games so far and Mumbai enjoying a 100 per cent winning run against KKR in the IPL, both teams will look to secure a good position in the mid-table.

The MIPTAi contenders begin the second phase of the competition on December 9 with two meetings – Mumbai against Delhi Capitals and Kolkata against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Mumbai Indians are looking to bounce back after they suffered a sensational 17-run loss against MI in their opening game at the Wankhede Stadium.

While the MI captain said he was fine with the final outcome, the KKR captain was mighty disappointed with the result.

While the KKR captain said he was still confident of challenging in the remainder of the tournament, the rivals are looking forward to their clashes.
